My 99th solo backpacking trip, 5th local long travel after Panay Island Jul. 2016, Babuyan Islands trip May 2016, Mindanao Eastern Side Aug. 2012 and of course, usual budget do-it-yourself (DIY) itinerary from arrival to departure. Also, this was my 71st to 76th provinces on my quest to conquer the 81 provinces of the Philippines.

The new normal of traveling is inevitable. Pandemic doesn't stop me of my dream and excitement to visit places I've never been. Coming from a 7 months solo trip in American Continent from Nov. 2020 to Jun. 2021, this itchy feet strikes again. Santo Domingo Colonial Historic Walk Tour

This trip was supposedly a planned 2 days tour on two different best beaches of Dominican Republic. The first day was in Playa Macao and Buggy ride and the 2nd day was in Saona Island. Unfortunately, I received a whatsapp message just afternoon of the 1st day from the tour operator declaring the 2nd day was cancelled due to lack of joiners. Since I don't wanna waste my time in Dominican Republic doing nothing, I change the trip to Redunda Montana + Playa Macao.

Playa Macao is declared by UNESCO as one of the best in the Caribbean for its fine sand and abundant palm trees, this stunning beach is virtual eye candy! Natural, expansive, virginal and 3.2 miles long, Playa el Macao is what dreams are made of.  As soon as arrive atop the hillcrest, all you will be able to say is… “WOW”! There is so much space to explore and not many people. Playa el Macao is never crowded because the beach is so big – except on weekends as it is a popular destination for Dominicans -At times, there will be excursions from the resorts with a busload of tourists and buggy excursions (which have pretty loud engines) which traverse the white dunes but there is plenty of room for everyone.

It is a scenic place that has been operating as a tourist place since (1999). Its owners are the “Pión Martínez” family. Round Mountain in Miches, is an unforgettable place, being surrounded by the nature of the countryside, enjoy a panoramic view, where the reflection of the lagoons combine with the sun rise on the beach and sunset with the green of the mountains, clean air and singing birds, peace and tranquility.

This trip was very spontaneous. My original plan was to cross the border of Dominican Republic through Ouanaminthe in Haiti. Unfortunately, the border was closed which was why the Caribe Tours bus station is closed. I just booked my ticket just night before the flight.

This trip also served as my 4th tour-visit in the famous white beach in the world (Dec. 2011, Jun. 2013 and Jul. 2016). Please take note that advance hotel booking is necessary on this island. My Boracay 1st visit was via RORO from Batangas Port (Dec. 2011), 2nd visit was via flight to Roxas city (Jun. 2013), 3rd visit was via Go Ferry from Batangas Port (Jul. 2016) and 4th visit (Feb. 2020) just now was via flight to Kalibo. I never used the Caticlan airport yet due to overpriced tickets #boracay

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT BORACAY ISLAND

1. Boracay has been highly celebrated in the international media as one of the best islands and having one of the best beaches in the world.
2. White Beach (the most famous beach in Boracay – and one of top in the world), is a 4 kilometer span of uninterrupted white sugary sand that stretches along the western curve of the island, protected from most winds so the turquoise water is usually glassy calm
3. Boracay suffered from over-tourism and inherited a reputation for sleazy nightlife and major environmental concerns. The government closed the island for six months and the island underwent an extensive facelift. Since reopening in October 2018, there are new rules and regulations, and a limit to the number of tourists allowed on the island. You must have a hotel pre-booked before they will let you get on the boat to Boracay. There is no eating or drinking on the beach, no smoking, no fire dancing, and no commercial sandcastles.

Phi Phi Islands are some of the loveliest in Southeast Asia. The two main islands are Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. The larger and inhabited Phi Phi Don attracts hundreds of visitors to stay on its lovely shores while the smaller uninhabited Phi Phi Leh hosts stunningly beautiful bays and beaches, including the world-famous Maya Bay, which was the set where The Beach (with Leonardo Di Caprio) was filmed.

Phuket Island, is Thailand's largest at 48km in length and 21km at its widest. It's in Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman Sea coastline, suspended from the southern tip of Phang Nga Province by a pair of short but substantial road bridges. Phuket has a busy nightlife, second only to Pattaya among Thailand's beach resorts. Patong is by far the busiest, and seediest, of the lot, but in addition to go-go bars there are also plenty of other bars, discos and clubs.
