1500H Hatobulico; Pousada Guesthouse; Free water while asking for motorbike rent

How to Go to Cristo Rei (Christ the Redeemer) Statue:

Microlet #12 coming from Dili City Center, $0.25 for one way, around 20 minutes travel time. Free admission, photography and videography is allowed. There is around 20 minutes to walk from the base to the statue.

Cristo Rei of Dili (Christ the King of Dili) is a 27.0-metre-high (88.6 ft) statue of Jesus located atop a globe in Dili, East Timor. The statue was designed by Mochamad Syailillah, who is better known as Bolil. The statue was officially unveiled by Suharto in 1996 as gift from the Indonesian government to the people of East Timor, which was at the time still a province.The statue is one of the main tourist attractions in East Timor. The statue, and the globe on which it rests, are situated at the end of the Fatucama peninsula, facing out to the ocean and can be reached by climbing some 500 steps.

My 55th solo backpacking trip, 30th country to visit in Asia continent, total of 63 countries visited so far and of course, usual budget do-it-yourself itinerary from arrival to departure. This trip serves also as my last country to visit on my quest on completing  to sightsee all of our neighbors in South East Asia.

The eastern half of the island of Timor, East Timor, is a former Portuguese colony that declared itself independent from Portugal on 28 November 1975. Nine days later, Indonesian forces invaded and occupied the former colony, with the tacit approval of the United States and Australia. By July 1976 the colony had been annexed as the province of Timor Timur.On 20 May 2002, East Timor was internationally recognized as an independent state under the official name of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
