Puerto Princesa City self-guided Tour

my 1st self-organized domestic trip
july 09-12, 2009 thursday to sunday

objective: to visit the best tourist spots that fits my taste and budget accordingly.
additional tasks: to witness why the puerto princesa undeground river become nominee of 7 new wonders of the world.

DAY 1 FRIDAY:
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY TOUR

We did this on do-it-yourself process and planned as follows;

(1) palawan crocodile farm - contracted a tricycle, with entrance fee of php40 plus the parking fee of the tricycle worth php40 also. one of the must see in palawan due this province has a lot of crocodiles to care of.

(2) iwahig penal colony - 30 minutes away from puerto princesa city and 15 minutes away from crocodile farm. built by the americans to house philippines prisoners during US invasion. now, it is a low security work farm.
(3) rancho sta. monica - owned by the Mitra's, that offers astonishing view of a typical countryside part of palawan.
(4) bakers hill - 100 meters away from Mitra's. a private park that is also known for best hopia.
(5) butterfly garden - with entrance fee of php25, little garden of colorful butterflies and flowers.

(6) honda bay - we only visited the port where the boat starts to head on due boat rental is expensive to avail for island hopping. and not just that, most of the islands to visit has their respective entrance fee so the only thing you can do per island is photo-ops and skin dipping. if ever islands to visit are Bat Island, Starfish Island, Snake Island, Pandan Island, Cannon (Cowrie) Island,  Lu Li Island, Meara Marina and Señorita Island
(7) vietnamese village - almost a ghostown area, few vietnamese residents lives. it didn't look like a tourist spot anymore.
(8) baywalk - the most cleanest bayside i ever seen, puerto princesa city is known as the cleanest city in the philippines.
(9) plaza cuartel - historical spot during the world war 2 were massacre of the locals occurred.
near downtown and baywalk but you have to ride a jeep.

by the way, if you want to do this by a commuter jeep, it must be via sicsican signboard. since most of this are inside the road from main road, we decided to hire a tricycle.
