Camarines Sur Day Tour 2nd part; Church hopping

feeling the new transpo trip for the 1st time
september 09-11, 2011 friday to sunday


objective: to visit the best tourist spots that fits my taste and budget accordingly
additional task: to continue the lakbay rizal quest and explore what this province can offer at limited time

from libmanan crossing, we arrived in naga bus terminal after an hour. decided to ride a tricycle bound to naga cathedral but instead, detour for a local food trip favorite. after eating started the church hopping in naga city proper. started in naga cathedral, then jeepney to penafrancia shrine. afterwards, just walked to penafrancia basilica then went to centro (downtown) for our final food trip for the day. around 1800H, we went back to PNR terminal for another go back to manila rail trip.

PORTA MARIAE - Celebrating the 300 years of the Bicolanos’ devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia a commemorative arch was built and formally opened on September 9, 2010. The arch, 18 meters long, 4 meters wide and 11 meters high, is a symbolic gate which imbues the journey of Marian devotion in Bicol.

NAGA METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL - Considered to be the mother of all cathedrals in Bicol. With an official name of Naga Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, this cathedral is one of the olders cathedrals in the Philippines first built in 1595.

PEÑAFRANCIA SHRINE - The original house of the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia built in 1750. Its bell, donated by a wealthy Chinese trader Don Simon Tuangqui during its reconstruction in 1864, still tolls on its belfry today.

PEÑAFRANCIA BASILICA MINORE - The home of the Nuestra Sra. de Peñafrancia dearly called by her devotees as Ina (Mother) was built in 1985.
